Offerings to the Land

The most important reason we needed to visit the site was to make an offering to the Land and ask, in person, for Blessings of Welcome from the Land. We did our best to listen for the welcome. At the *very first* area we entered, we were greeted by our friend below, an Eastern Indigo snake (Drymarchon couperi). To put his presence in context, the Couperi part of the Latin name is for John Couper who first identified the snake by specimen. The Drymarchon is much more interesting, It is Greek for the Lord of the Forest.
